Wanna Change Your Life? Change Your Thoughts.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results… so says Albert Einstein. Let’s face it, this truism does holds true for many of us. We churn the same old thought patterns despite our desire for a new and improved life.

Think about your own life. Are there things about it that you don’t like? Experiences that no longer serve you, yet, you continue to engage in them over and over again? You may want to make that change but simply don’t know how. Well, I’ve got news for you: changing your life is really as simple as changing your thoughts!

Instead of dwelling on that which you do NOT want, focus on what you want and would love to have manifested in your life. But first, you’ve got to get clear on your heart’s desires: What do you really, really, really want? And then you must create affirmations that speak your desires into existence.

Powerful affirmations are the BEST kept secret used by many highly successful people to manifest a life and the lifestyle they desire. Affirmations help you stay focused on what you want. More importantly, it is a form of communication between you and yourself that can help you break through mental challenges and blocks.

5 Steps to Manifesting Your Heart’s Desires Through Words of Affirmations

Step 1: Get Clear About What Your Heart Wants

Your dreams and desires are expressions of passion and joy. Set aside time to think about what makes you feel good, happy, fulfilled. Create a list of those goals.

Step 2: Write a Positive Affirmation Statement for Each Goal

Your affirmation statements must be written in the present tense. For example, the statement can start with phrases such as “I am…” or “I am becoming…” Use the second phrase if you are inclined to feel uncomfortable speaking about something as if it’s already happened because your mind is convinced that you are telling a lie.

Your affirmations should also be short statements. The shorter the statements, the easier it will be to memorize them. Yes, your self-talk will eventually incorporate these positive affirmations!

One of my personal goals is to remain healthy and fit – it’s actually a perpetual goal for me! So, my positive affirmations related to health and wellness read “I fuel my body with healthy nourishing food.” and “I engage in regular exercises as an expression of self love.”

Words are powerful and your mind is skilled at deciphering hidden messages! So, avoid using the words “I will…” when writing your positive affirmations. For example, stating “I will eat healthy” suggests that you currently are NOT demonstrating healthy eating habits. Writing your affirmations in a manner that suggest you are trying to change is another no-no. When you say “I will NOT eat junk food”, your mind hears “Eat Junk Food.” The mind is not able to process the concept of a negative statement; the word “not” is skipped over and your mind interprets the statement as written without the word “not” which means it would hear “I will eat junk food.”

Step 3: Speak Your Positive Affirmations with Conviction

Once you have written your positive affirmations, practice reading them with feeling. In other words, imagine how you will feel when each affirmation is manifested in your life. Do the hairs on your back rise? Does your heart quicken or skip a beat? Do you feel giddy? If you don’t “feel moved” when reading your affirmations, spend some time tweaking the words in the statements until you do! You must attach feelings to words of affirmations to bring about the changes you desire.

Step 4: Display Your Positive Affirmations Where You Can See Them Daily

Choose a place for your positive affirmations that ensures you will see them every day. Perhaps on the mirror in your bathroom; you can write them on 3x3 sticky notes or write on the mirror with erasable markers. If you have a smartphone, you might create a Note and set an alarm to remind yourself to read them out loud. You could take photos of the written statements and create a screensaver on your computer, so the statements automatically display whenever there is a pause in your computer activity. Getting these positive affirmations in front of you often and repeatedly is key to replacing existing old thoughts that no longer serve you with the powerful beliefs that will fuel your shift to a life that you love madly.

Step 5: Practice Reciting Your Positive Affirmations to Yourself Every Day

Affirmations provide you with a means to change how you see yourself. For it to work, you also must repeat the statements out loud over and over to replace those less positive (or negative) thoughts that have been holding your life in a steady state of what you don’t want. Heard repeatedly over time, positive affirmations form your truth. Plan to repeat your positive affirmations at least once a day until they are manifested in your life.

Once you manifest an affirmation, consider what new goal you want to add to your life vision. Create a new positive affirmation for the goal, and make reciting and viewing it part of your daily routine.
